These three herbs have a multitude of benefits, but we have focused on their effects on colds and flu.  Especially good drunken when you feel a cold coming on.  Also great to drink if you suffer from hayfever or allergies.

Yarrow tea can help to clear up mucous and relieve congestion, allowing you to breathe more easily. It can soothe a sore throat as well as strengthen your lungs.  If you have a high fever it will help to promote natural sweating and therefore may break your fever in a safer way.  This can also help if you suffer from hayfever.  Helps to dry up nasal passages.   It is calming and has antispasmodic properties.

Peppermint teas main benefit is its ability to decongest the nasal and the bronchial passages.  Also good to drink when cold and flu is coming on.  It has a soothing and healing action and is an antispasmodic.  The menthol content may also help to treat a sore throat and alleviate cough.  Good for those that suffer from hay fever as it alleviates congestion.

Elderflower tea is antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, alleviates allergies and boosts the immune system.  It has the ability to combat symptoms of colds and the flu. Each cup contains quercetin, isoquercitrin, anthocyanins, chlorogenic acids and triterpenoids, as well as relatively high levels of Vitamin C.

Caution:  If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, then it is not safe for you to drink yarrow tea.  Not for children under 5. Yarrow is known to interact with blood thinners, blood pressure, stomach acid-reducing and epilepsy medication – so best avoided if you are on any of these medications
