I am your Base Chakra. I relate to your basic need to survive, to feel safe, connected, supported and stable. I connect you to the Earth. The Earth is your root, where you find nourishment, it is your stable ground. Your roots come from your past, your ancestors, your culture. Your memories and those of your ancestors are lodged within you, in your DNA. When you reclaim these roots, you strengthen who you are. To ground is to be in touch with your home, the familiar, the safe, the secure. To be in touch is to feel and understand your pain, pleasure, fear and joy - to accept your body, as it is. When you are truly grounded, you are at rest, still and you can listen to your body. This stillness brings clarity. When I am out of balance you may feel depressed, anxious, fearful, be worrying about your future, feel lethargic or be suffering insomnia. You may find yourself overeating, excessively spending money, or having an incessant need for more money. If any of these feel out of balance work with me to create a strong foundation within, so you may feel more stability, confidence, energy and strength. Once your foundation is strong you are able to open your other chakras. I am located at the base of the spine, region of the perineum

A combination of practices helps to unblock / balance the chakra. Meditating is one way that I know personally is very effective. When meditating, I apply some of the chakra oil on the base of my spine before I begin. I have attached a meditation that can be downloaded which accompanies the oil to balance and unblock this chakra.
The oil can be used in combination with a mantra. There are many mantras that can be used and you will find some on the card that goes with this oil. It fits easily into the back of a wallet. When working on a chakra, take the card with you and quietly recite some of the mantras in your mind when you have time. Repeating these throughout the day and week creates new thought patterns.
Sound and vibrations play an essential role in healing the chakras. The mantra or Bija Seed Mantra associated with the Muladhara Chakra is “LAM”. Chanting this mantra activates the earth element within awakening our connection to the source of life and consciousness and promoting grounding and balance.
Making things with your hands, physical exercise and working are all of benefit in balancing this chakra. Having a routine - while it might be boring - can be beneficial as it builds a foundation through focus and repetition and aids us in manifesting as well as building our expertise in something. We also need structure and limitations - if we didn't limit what we did we wouldn't accomplish anything.
We are spending much more time indoors and we are losing our connection to our source, The Earth. We feel drained and tired after sitting all day in front of a computer. Just being outdoors can bring us the balance we need. As it is connected to the earth element, spend time with your feet on the earth, grounding - this is invaluable - take off those shoes and walk barefoot on the grass, the sand, the soil, sit with a tree, really connect into the earth around you. Not only will this be effective for this chakra it will be so beneficial for your whole being.
