The Sanskrit word for the Heart Chakra is Anahata.  Anahata means unstruck or unbroken.   It is said to represent the sound of the celestial realm. It is the bridge between the lower and the upper chakras - the link between the physical world and the higher dimensions.

The heart is about sensitivity.  It is associated with the sense of touch and it is through the heart that we are touched by life, it is where we truly feel others and are felt and touched by them. As the heart relates to the hands and the arms, we see how it is connected to that ability to touch, to hold, to give and also to receive.

The element associated with this chakra is Air.  The Air Element symbolises freedom, breath and expansion. The energy that is manifested by the Heart Chakra has a deep impact on us.

Bergamot, Geranium and Melissa essential oils have been selected to aid in balancing your Heart Chakra.  

A combination of practices helps to unblock / balance the chakra.  Meditating is one way that I know personally is very effective. I apply the chakra oil on the central chest area before I begin.  I have attached a meditation that you can download which accompanies the oil to balance and unblock this chakra.   

Alternatively, the oil can be used in conjunction with the many mantras that can be used to unblock and or balance the chakra. We have selected some to go on the mantra card that goes with this oil.  It fits easily into the back of a wallet.  When I'm working on a chakra, I take the card with me and quietly recite some of them in my mind when I have some time.   Repeating these throughout the day and week creates new thought patterns. 

Sound and vibrations play an essential role in healing the chakras.  The mantra or Bija Seed Mantra associated with the Anahata Chakra is "YAM".  Chanting this mantra can activates the air element in the body helping to regulate the flow of prana and energy transfers in your body, and bringing ease to your breathing.  It aids in healing both the physical and spiritual centre of the heart, making you more open to experience unconditional love and compassion.

Anahata Chakra is associated with the air element so spend time each day with your breath. Breathe deeply into your heart space for five counts and breathe out for five counts.  This is called Heart Math.  This is a powerful exercise that taps you into the power and emotional intelligence of your heart and your intuition.  Take the time to connect in with the Air Element - spend time outside observing the birds, the wind, the air that surrounds you and what it means to you.
