Gentle & Soothing  Mineral Rich Clay

Kaolin Clay has a very soft texture and is one of the mildest of the clays - so is gentle and suitable for all skin types, especially on dry, mature, sensitive skin.  It is rich in calcium, silica, zinc and magnesium, it is also an ideal product for oily skin.

Kaolin Clay is a natural and mild detoxifier and exfoliator, helping to remove dirt, bacteria etc. from the skin.  It revitalises the appearance of skin, leaving it feeling fresher, smoother and more radiant.   It is able to absorb excess oil from your skin, balancing it. You can also use it as a cleanser, for face masks, hair masks, as an exfoliator, in natural shampoo, in natural deodarants, and as a teeth whitener.

Note:    Kaolin has a high mineral content which can irritate the skin if it is used too much.  Do not inhale.  Store in glass, enamel, ceramic or wooden containers.

You can use in the bath with epsom salts for a relaxing bath that treats your skin at the same time. To make your own skin care products mix the clay with small amounts of water to make a paste.   The paste will make an excellent exfoliator as it has lots of tiny crystals in it.  You can combine some oil with it too.  Using this will help to get rid of dead skin cells and any impurities on the skin leaving your skin feeling smooth and clean. Always start with a small amount of water and increase if you need more.  You are after a thin paste consistency. 

Clay Mask

2 tbsp Kaolin Clay

1 tsp Carrier Oil (almond, macadamia etc.) 

Water 

METHOD

  1. Mix all Kaolin and carrier oil together.
  2. Add water until a paste forms.
  3. Apply to face and neck.
  4. Leave for 10 minutes.
  5. Remove from skin with a warm towel.
  6. Follow with moisturiser
A paste can be made for your hair - apply to the scalp and roots of your hair.  Leave it in for around 5 minutes before rinsing out and conditioning.
