Oatstraw is a highly beneficial nervine, nutritive, and sedative. It is gentle and supportive of the nervous system. This plant is highly valued for its ability to restore balance and a sense of calm if feeling weak or under a lot of stress.  It has been used for centuries to protect and soothe dry, inflamed and itchy skin.  It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

One of the benefits of drinking oat straw tea is that it acts as a diuretic, helping to flush the bladder by increasing urination.  In addition it can help heal some of the symptoms of a urine infection.

Being rich in Vitamin A and B complex as well as calcium and other minerals and vitamins, drinking this as a tea regularly helps by soothing and calming you if you are  suffering from stress, anxiety or fatigue. It can also help with depression.  One of the first things you may notice after drinking the tea for a couple of days is that it gives you energy.

A cup of the tea contains about 300 mg calcium.  It is also rich in silica, iron, zinc, magnesium and vitamin B-12, which are important for strong hair, nails, and bones.

You can add one or two glasses to your bath to sooth worn and dry skin (good for eczema).

It helps to encourage a person to eat when there is a problem, such as loss of appetite caused by thyroid conditions or lack of oestrogen.

Oat Straw Tea Recipe

• Add 1 to 3 teaspoons of dried oat straw to a glass of boiling water
• Cover the cup and let it steep for 15 minutes.
• You can consume this oat straw tea 3 times a day.
